Surf’s Up! Louis Vuitton S/S2027 - Pharrell’s Best Show Yet
To be considered forever cool is truly an honor, and it’s an honor Pharrell Williams absolutely deserves. From Marc Jacobs, to Kim Jones, to Virgil Abloh, the tinkering element of street culture is fully engrained in the modern essence of fashion. On full display, Pharrell has utterly defined the total meaning of Director. From the design of the fashion, to the extraordinary sets, the marketing development, to the sound that fulfills the environment, Pharrell has truly mastered the concept of being a world builder. Each element designed by Pharrell for this Spring-Summer 2027 collection works simultaneously in one cohesive ecosystem and ties the world together for one single cause, the covenant LV that stands over the world of fashion. Through Pharrell, Louis Vuitton remains on the cusps of new, fresh, and first to do.
Getting into the show, musical guests Future, Quavo, WizKid, and Lil Baby filled the front row alongside individuals like actor Jeremy Allen White from FX’s ‘The Bear’ , 2026 NBA Finalist Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, and the CEO of LVMH himself, Bernard Arnault. The set indulges you into an beach front fantasy where we see each look come from under a cascading ocean wave. Within this fantasy you are lifted by the very sounds produced by Pharrell Williams himself, featuring a harmonic choir and orchestra. Drawing the audience in with classical harmony, that harmony is then broken with a level of modernism once before never thought to be apart of the world of fashion. Your ears are hit with hard 808’s and rap flows hailing from Atlanta’s own Quavo and Lil Baby, tailored directly for the fashion you observe across the sandy runway. This is the most tangible example of bridging the gap from the street, to the studio, to the world of luxury fashion.
Classical Louis Vuitton silhouettes are featured among the models with a reinterpreted twist upon the famous LV Monogram. What we find is the Monogram broken into individual pieces and splashes the classic LV template with color. This offers an exciting and reimagined approach across the timeless Vuitton bags, trunks, and clothing and elevates it into an aura of pop. Leather ball caps, decompressed Speedy bags, Monogram surf boards, and even a bike accent this show along with new and creative LV trunks - a modern take on the very item that brought Louis Vuitton the the forefront. In recent news, the item everyone has had an opinion over was featured on almost every model - the new Louis Vuitton skate sneaker. Opinions flew around about this sneaker model due to it’s resemblance to the classic Vans skate sneaker we all know. This isn’t the first time this type of skate model has been reinterpreted - so in the fashion of the Director, Pharrell threw the sneaker on almost every Look that left the runway. So much for your opinion on Twitter. Closing out the show, Pharrell waves down the runway with Future, Bernard Arnault, Victor Wembanyama, and his family all congratulating him for the amazing show. Not only is there a point with the fashion itself, but taking the next step with original Louis Vuitton music has brought a new era to the Louis Vuitton brand and it’ll be exciting to see another level be added into what designing and being a Creative Director can be. This was an outstanding production from Pharrell Williams and the Spring-Summer 2027 Collection is one that will be remembered.
